Dianne Efsic, a lifelong artist, began painting with acrylics in 1982. Her primary themes are light sources and reflections found in her earlier paintings of windows and doors. Today she combines various media in abstract works, examining the light reflecting abilities of each piece. While she continues to paint some openings, more current works are mixed media collage and paint and in variations of white, usually on the themes of movement, sea, and space. She also paints flower portraits, using fresh flowers for her models. She has been commissioned to faux paint in historic homes.
After our war began in the Middle East, she began and continues to add to a large installation piece writing the names of American dead in Iraq on Chinese joss papers. She began this installation at Northwood ARTSpace in 2006 and at the Columbus Cultural Arts Center in 2007. In early 2008 it was shown at the Puffin Foundation in Teaneck, N.J., mentioned in the NY Times, and used as a backdrop for part of Tamra Hayden’s video, Eden Will Bloom.
Dianne is a long time Ohio resident who was born and grew up in Aurora, Illinois. She has studied in Illinois, Mexico, Texas and Ohio.
