Mark Sisson is a painter, illustrator, cartoonist and calligrapher. He got his start impressing his kindergarten teacher and classmates with a painting of Popeye, which was featured at the first Open House, making it his first exhibit.
As one with a broad range of interests, this carries over into his art. He has explored a variety of mediums in his paintings, with styles ranging from semi-realism to expressionism. His paintings have shown up in exhibits sponsored by the Ohio Art League, The Ohio State Fair, and various galleries.
His cartoons have appeared in a variety of magazines and periodicals. His niche has been mainly in the church community, as there is a wealth of material from which to work, and where he’s sure to offend someone, or at least get a small rise out of them.
As a calligrapher, he has done thousands of certificates (and doesn’t want to do any more), and even lettered several entire books. His calligraphy styles vary from very formal to various freestyles.
Mark has lived in Columbus his entire life, never finding a good reason to leave. He likes it here.
