I grew up running around on my family’s farm near Lake Ontario, reading, swimming, drawing, and trying every craft imaginable in the “craft-crazy” 70’s. Like every country kid at that time, I joined the 4H and learned to sew and cook (well, sew, anyway). I went to college, graduated from Cornell with a degree in Landscape Architecture, moved to Central Ohio, got married and had 400 kids (ok, 4, but it feels like 400).
I consider myself mainly a fiber artist, although I occasionally dabble in mixed media and jewelry. Basically, I like to play with a lot of materials, from fabric and yarn, to beads, paints, and anything else I might find intriguing. I create hand-dyed and painted silk scarves, and other “fiber-art” wearables and accessories, but my main interest is art quilting. I love to create contemporary abstract wall hangings that reference both traditional quilt making techniques and “modern” art.
My design inspiration comes mainly from nature, travels throughout the U.S., an interest in cultural imagery and a love of COLOR! I have had quilts accepted into juried shows across the country, and I am honored to have received numerous awards and recognition.
I am also a member of a local fiber art group, Off Our Blocks.
